Movement To End Forced Arbitration For Sexual Assault And Sexual Harassment Survivors Gains Bipartisan Movement

On November 4, 2021, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted to advance the Ending of Forced Arbitration of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Act, a bill ending forced arbitration for the survivors of sexual assault and harassment.  If this bill is passed, it would give victims the choice on how they seek justice and accountability under the law.

Forced Arbitration is a rigged system for employees and consumers.  According to the Economic Policy Institute, consumers obtain relief in 9% of disputes while arbitrators grant companies relief in 93% of their claims.  Companies win the overwhelming majority of claims when consumers and employees are forced into arbitration.  If this bill passes, it will shed public light on sexual assault as well as sexual harassment in the workplace.  Victims deserve to have their claims heard in front of a jury of their peers.
