This break must be uninterrupted and free from the control of the employer. In other words, your employer cannot require you to perform any work-related tasks during this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s important to note that this meal break must be provided no later than the end of the fifth hour of work. If you work more than 10 hours in a day, you are entitled to a second 30-minute meal break. This second break must be provided no later than the end of the tenth hour of work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your employer fails to provide you with these meal breaks, or if you are required to perform work-related tasks during your breaks, you may be entitled to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saluskylaw.com\">additional compensation<\/a>. It&#8217;s important to speak up and assert your rights if this happens to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to these meal break requirements, California law also requires employers to provide their employees with a 10-minute rest break for every 4 hours worked. These breaks must also be uninterrupted and free from the control of the employer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s important for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.calchamber.com\/california-labor-law\/meal-and-rest-breaks\">California workers to be aware of their rights to meal<\/a> and rest breaks, and to speak up if their employer is not providing them.
